As part of their recent Wealth in Health unit, students in 7Y have been exploring the topic of health promotion — and specifically the growing issue of vaping among teenagers. With a focus on raising awareness and encouraging positive choices, students were challenged to design a poster targeting the dangers and consequences of vaping in a way that would resonate with their peers.
The activity combined research, creativity, and persuasive messaging, as students worked in small groups to create compelling visual campaigns. From bold slogans to eye-catching designs, the posters reflected a strong understanding of both the health risks of vaping and the importance of peer-to-peer communication.
To reinforce the real-world impact of their efforts, the most effective posters were selected to be displayed in strategic locations around the school — including high-visibility areas like the student toilets, where teens are most likely to see them. Winning students also received canteen vouchers as a reward for their outstanding work.
Well done to Sarah Chew, Amelia Nordstrom, Miles Howarth and Lachie King for their initiative and thoughtful approach to promoting healthy choices within our school community.
A special thank you goes to Miss Carosi, who generously gave her time to sit on the judging panel to help select the winning entries. Her support and input were greatly appreciated!
