Learning Support at Kirrawee High School
At Kirrawee High School, the Learning Support Team works in partnership with students, parents, and teachers to ensure that every young person can engage in learning and reach their potential. Open communication between families and the school is essential. We encourage parents and carers to share information about their child’s learning, wellbeing, or medical needs so that we can provide the most appropriate support at school.
The Learning Support Team works closely with the Wellbeing Team to provide a holistic approach to supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional needs.
The Learning and Support Teacher (LaST) works collaboratively with classroom teachers to develop strategies, implement adjustments, and coordinate provisions for students who require additional support. LaSTs also liaise closely with families, the wellbeing team, and external providers to ensure a consistent and targeted approach.
Our School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs) work alongside teachers in the classroom to provide direct support to students. This may include helping with learning tasks, providing individual assistance, or supporting behaviour and engagement so that all students can participate fully in class.
Provisions for assessment and learning are implemented in line with NSW Department of Education guidelines. Adjustments are always based on individual student needs, ensuring that support is fair, consistent, and equitable while maintaining the integrity of learning outcomes.
