Step 2 KHS Non-Local Application - Non Local Students ONLY
Due Friday 14 March 2025
An out of area applicant lives outside the drawing area for the school. School finder on the Department of Education website allows you to find your local school based on your address. Click here to check the local high school for your address.
Recently NSW Education introduced a 'cap' to limit the number of students each school is allowed to enrol. Kirrawee's cap has not impacted our enrolments allowing us to enrol the same quantity of students as previous years. Approximately a third of our students come from out of the area, so many places are available.
The KHS Non-Local application will handed out on the information night, it can also be downloaded here from Friday 28 February, 2025.
The KHS Non-Local Application is to be returned to Kirrawee High School by the 14 March 2025.
Non-local Enrolment Criteria:
- Priority is given to siblings of current students and to children of permanent school staff.
- Exceptional compassionate, learning, wellbeing and/or family circumstances that cannot be accommodated at the local school.
Note: Compassionate circumstances must be significant and supported by evidence. For example, circumstances such as anxiety related solely to friends attending the school will not be considered valid compassionate grounds.
- The structure and organisation of the school.
For example:
o involvement in performing arts including band, music, dance and drama,
o specialist sports for example, water polo
o debating and public speaking
o leadership opportunities
o other organisational or structural considerations relevant to Kirrawee High School.
- Availability of subjects/combination of subjects particular to Kirrawee High School. For example, French or Japanese
- Demonstrated commitment to learning
Step 3 Enrichment Test – students seeking placement in the 2026 HPaGE class
Enrichment Class Testing
Important: please read the updated information regarding the Cognitive Abilities Test (CoGAT) testing.
Due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts, including events and programs taking place at a number of primary schools, we have had to move the CoGAT testing date to Thursday May the 15th. This change will ensure that all students who have been offered placement at Kirrawee High School are able to participate in the testing process.
We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause and believe this new date will help us better coordinate with other school activities and assist in ensuring the success of the transition process for all students.
Further information about the test will be provided when first round offers are made.
