Career Programs

Our Careers Adviser is located in A Block, students in year 9 and above are free to approach for advice. Parents can make contact with the adviser by calling reception or emailing the school attention to the careers adviser.

Classroom Career Education begins in Year 10 with areas covered including job exploration, personal interest and research on careers and training that includes HSC subjects needed to undertake courses, scholarship identification and course locations.

Work Experience

This can be accessed by any student over the age of 14 in the school and is run in accordance with the Department’s Workplace learning guidelines.

Work Experience needs to be organised with the following form The Student Placement Record. Please complete and return to the Careers Advisor before the student begins the placement. Students can obtain forms from the careers adviser, alternatively it is found under the ‘forms’ section on the header of this page.

Part Time traineeships

These are available to students in Years 11 and 12 enabling them to combine work with vocational training as part of their HSC.

TAFE Delivered Vocational Education

These courses are co-ordinated by the careers adviser.

School to Work Planning

Students and teachers have to opportunity to use the Employment Related Skills Logbook, funds and cross curriculum activities to facilitate student transition from school to work.

Senior Students

They are kept informed of careers and training options by newsletters, excursions, careers markets, guest speakers, interviews and the careers reference room.

Kirrawee High School can also initiate School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships for students who are still at school to undertake whilst in year 11 and 12. Please see the careers adviser to apply.
