What a whirlwind Term 2 has been for the Dance department! Our students have showcased their talents and hard work across various events. Here’s a recap of the amazing performances and experiences our dancers have had this term.
Sutherland Dance Festival
On the 4th of June, our dancers took the stage at the Sutherland Pavilion for the Sutherland Dance Festival. This event showcased incredible works from High Schools around our local area. Our Junior Dance Company, Year 7 Dance Company, Senior Dance Company, and Year 10 Elective Dance students all performed brilliantly. Their behaviour was exceptional and dedication to their performance commendable, and we couldn't be prouder of their achievements.
In the Spotlight Dance Festival
June was a busy month with the In the Spotlight Dance Festival at the Seymour Centre. This festival highlights exemplary works from across our region, and our students certainly lived up to the occasion.
- Year 7 Dance Company performed "Uninhabited" on the 18th of June.
- Senior Dance Company presented "Fight or Flight" on the 21st of June.
- Junior Dance Company showcased "Ripple Effect" not only in the evening show on the 25th of June but also at an exclusive matinee performance on the 26th.
Our students performed beautifully and should be commended not just for their talent, but also for their exemplary behavior throughout these events.
Bangarra Dance Theatre's Production of 'Horizon'
To cap off a month of performances, on the 26th of June, our Year 9, 10, and 12 elective dance classes had the privilege of attending Bangarra Dance Theatre's production of 'Horizon' at the Opera House. This inspiring work left a lasting impression on all who attended, fueling their passion for dance even further.
HSC Dance Trials
Finally, we are heading into the last event of the term: the HSC Dance trials. A huge "Chookas" to all our Year 12 dance students as they prepare to showcase their hard work. We also want to extend a special thank you to their composition dancers—Isla Stewart, Reggie Davy, Tahlia Martz, Emily Boyd, Sorenn Bentley, Blaze Carney, Holly Brown, Kyah Wright, and Ava Beasley—for their dedication and support over the past few months.
It's been a fantastic term filled with creativity, hard work, and outstanding performances. We look forward to yet another exciting term 3.
