Mega Waves Program

The Mega Waves Program with Sharks Have Heart Rugby League

This term students in the IEU participated in a rugby league program run by Emma Tonegato (Cronulla Sharks Women’s Rugby League and State of Origin player). The IEU students enjoyed developing their rugby league skills especially being able to tackle the crash pads being held by a professional rugby league player! They also learnt the importance of teamwork and trying new and unfamiliar activities. The program helped build confidence in many areas, making it a successful and enjoyable experience for all. The last session of the term finished with a game of tag rugby league against students from year 7 and 8. Unsurprisingly after all our training sessions, the IEU students were the victors! 😊

A huge thank you to Emma and her team from Sharks Have Heart for running the Mega Waves program – we hope to do this again in the future. Also, a big shoutout to all students and staff from KHS, who participated in this amazing program!

Year 7 Camp

The year 7 camp at Stanwell Tops took place this term and we had five very excited year 7 students from the IEU attend. Two nights away from home filled with an abundance of activities; giant swings, archery, survivor games, abseiling, rope climbing and go carting! Seems like there wouldn’t be time for anything else, however students were also able to enjoy a disco the first night and games of Trivia and Bingo the second evening. It was a fantastic opportunity for the students to foster new friendships and challenge themselves, building confidence and resilience. A huge thank you to the staff that organised the event and those who accompanied our students, in particular Ms Barrett and Ms Keats. Our year 7’s are very lucky and will surely remember this throughout their future years at Kirrawee High School.
