Our Kirrawee High School Merit System includes a range of awards which begins with STARS.
KHS Merit Systems Overview
Level 1 - Stars. Stars are awarded to students electronically by teachers for a range of reasons including but not limited to; school representation, involvement in school programs, excellent participation, achievement, effort in class, school service, acts of kindness, improvement in any area. The student with the most stars each week is awarded with student of the week.
Level 2 - Achievement Award. Achievement Awards are presented to students who have acumulated 5 Stars. These are given out to students throughout the term once the 5th Star is awarded. Other reasons for achievement awards include; Outstanding Achievement Assessment Task, Zone Representation, 100% Attendance in a 5 Week Period.
Level 3 - Excellence Award. Excellence Awards are presented at Year Assemblies, School Assemblies or Semester Assemblies. Excellence Awards are given out for accumulation of 5 achievement awards. Other circumstances when an excellence award can be presented include; Student of the Week, Semester Award Excellence in Class (Year 7 and 8), Semester Personal Growth Award, Breaking a Record at Swimming or Athletics Carnival, School Service.
Level 4 - Distinction Award. Distinction Awards are presented to students who have accumulated 5 Excellence Awards. Also Distinction Awards are presented for Contribution to Performing Arts, School Service, Leadership (SRC), Sydney East Representation. Semester Academic Achievement (Years 9 and 10), School Sport Coaches, Representation in 5 Sports.
Level 5 - Silver Award of Merit. (Deputy Principal Award) Accumulation of 5 Distinction Awards or 3 Distinction Awards from the same category (General, Leadership and School Service, CAPA, Sport). Silver Award of Merit is presented to students for Outstanding Academic Achievement each Semester (Years 9-12), NSW Public School State Ensembles. School Leadership, Sports Awards (CHS Medallist).
Level 6 - Gold Award of Merit . (Principal Award) Accumulation of 5 Silver Awards or 3 Silver Awards from the same category (General, Leadership and School Service, CAPA, Sport). Gold Award of Merit is presented to students for Outstanding Academic Achievement each Semester (Years 9-12), School Musical Lead, Major Awards, Sydney East Age Champion. CHS Team, CHS Gold Medallist.
