Languages Report

l1

As we enter the second half of term 2, we have some exciting updates and acknowledgments to share with you.

Firstly, we extend a warm welcome to Sera Kato, our Japanese assistant for Term 2 and 3. Sera has been working tirelessly with all our students, bringing Japan into the classroom and enriching their language learning experience. We are grateful for her commitment to fostering cultural understanding and language skills among our students. In particular, our senior students and extension groups have greatly benefited from the one-on-one conversation and skill development sessions led by Sera. We are truly fortunate to have Sera as part of our team, and we look forward to continued collaboration and success.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Milla and the McCallum family for their kindness and support as hosts for Sera. We are grateful for your support and willingness to embrace the spirit of cultural exchange.

This term, our students will also enjoy authentic language experiences outside the classroom. Year 8 Japanese and French classes will visit restaurants to sample traditional dishes, applying their knowledge from the food and restaurant unit. Year 7 students will visit the Tanken Centre, immersing themselves in Japanese culture and language for a fun and rewarding day. Year 9 Japanese classes are heading to the city for karaoke and lunch. At Kirrawee High School, learning languages is interactive and exciting!
