We are very excited to introduce our resident Brass Tutor Mr Nick Calligeros. Nick will be tutoring on Friday's.
Nick is a professional trumpeter, band-leader and educator. He leads four of his own original projects, as well as performing in corporate, commercial and studio sessions.
He has played with and recorded for acts such as Triple J Hottest 100 artists Middle Kids and Kim Churchill, as well as local legends Hot Potato Band, Horrorshow and Tangents. Performance highlights include Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Splendour in The Grass, Woodford Folk Festival and at the Sydney Opera House for Vivid Festival.
Nick studied Music Performance (Jazz) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and in 2022 returned to complete a Masters in Music Performance research. Beyond performing, he is a passionate educator and band director in the Southern Sydney area. Over the last 10 years, Nick has been inspiring and mentoring trumpet and brass students from 7-12 to be the best players they can, including taking students through HSC Music 1, Music 2 and Music Extension courses. Nick is also a creative kids provider.
We are very excited to include him in the Music Department HPGE Tutoring Program and we look forward to what musical delights his students achieve in 2023.
