Every year Kirrawee High School Awards two year 7 students with a special Water Polo Award. The 2023 Recipients are Estella Donelly and Ryan Harris.

Congratulations to Estella Donelly - recipient of the 2023 Mardi Harris Award.
Mardi was a former student of Kirrawee High School and played a pivotal role in the success of Kirrawee High School Water Polo program, winning several U15's and Open Championships. Mardi also Represented Sydney East, NSW CHS and Australian All Schools throughout her time at Kirrawee High School.
This award is in memory of Mardi who unfortunately lost her battle with cancer in 2003. Her legacy and spirit lives on through the successful Kirrawee High School Water Polo program.
The award is presented each year to a Year 7 student who demonstrates talent and commitment to the KHS water polo program.

Congratulations to Ryan Harris - 2023 Recipient of The Eric Hirst Award.
Eric Hirst was an engineer who worked for the Sutherland Shire Council and a parent of 6 children who attended Kirrawee High School. Their family lived just behind the school oval. Eric helped develop the KHS water polo program in 1980 with PDHPE teacher Mr Joe Hewett, Kirrawee High School’s first water polo coach. Following the introduction of the program in 1980, the school saw immediate success, winning it’s first state championship in 1982.
Eric pioneered through the council, the construction of the utility pool at Sutherland Leisure Centre, which has seen many Kirrawee High School students mark their trade in water polo and progress as far as Olympic level.
This award is presented each year to a Year 7 student who has demonstrated talent and commitment to the KHS Water Polo Program.
Well Done Ryan, a most worthy recipient of this award.
