Sydney East Athletics Championships

The Sydney East Athletics Championship was held at the Sylvania Waters Athletics track on Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd August.

After two years of cancelled regional carnivals it was so great to see out athletes back competing.  We had athletes representing Kirrawee High School and Sutherland Zone in sprinting, hurdles, throws, jump and middle distance running. To compete at this level is outstanding and congratulations to our team of 57. 

The amazing results from our athletes placed KHS the 2nd highest placed school in the point score,  only being beaten by Endeavour Sports. 

We also finished with ; 

1 Sydney East Record,

2 Sydney East Age Champions,

15 Sydney East Regional Champions and

22 athletes finishing 1st, 2nd or 3rd.   

Congratulations to:

Izobelle Louison Roe who broke a record that has been held for over 20 years in the 15G Triple Jump, with a jump of 11.74

Mahley Louison Roe crowned the Sydney East Age Champion in 12 Boys

Christopher Szekeres  for being crowned the Sydney East Age Champion in 14 Boys.

Special mention to the athletes that placed 1st and 2nd in their events who have now been selected to represent Sydney East at the NSW Combined High School Athletics Carnival.  The state championships will be held at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Track from the 7-9 September.  Kirrawee High have 16 athletes selected for this carnival. Congratulations also to those students who just missed out on selection placing 3rd in the Sydney East Region. Whilst they are not eligible to progress further, 3rd place is still an amazing achievement.
