Year 11 Textiles and Design students should be proud of their efforts in their recent assessment task. Students were required to design and produce a skirt inspired by a period in history, along with accompanying documentation in the form of a portfolio.
This year the inspirations ranged from mid 1800's French Can-Can, 1970's Mod / Hippie Movement, 90's Denim style and Boho Beach Vibes of the Aughts era. Design features included topstitching, patch pockets, machine embroidery, lace inserts, pleats, gathers, zips, linings and bows.
All students worked extensively to construct their apparel or costume piece using accurate textile techniques with varying degrees of creativity. Folio presentation included information on Design Inspiration, Visual Design Development and Manufacturing details.
This assessment will enable the students to consider carefully their next practical item, which can be in any focus area and is free choice. Well done Year 11!
