On Wednesday the 14th of December, Year 7 participated in "Aquatics Day". The primary goal of the day was for all students to complete the 25 metre swim test, tread water for 1 minute and demonstrate rescue techniques. Completion of these skills is mandatory for any student who undertakes any water activity during their secondary schooling.
Once testing was completed, Year 7 enjoyed participating in a variety of water related activities. Relay races on bodyboards and pool noodles, finding submerged objects, making atomic whirlpools and synchronised swimming were some of the highlights enjoyed by Year 7
Students also participated in a CPR workshop and then broke off into small groups to practice their compressions on the manikins.
The day was hugely successful, and a great way to bring the year to a close. Kirrawee High looks forward to making "Aquatics Day" an annual component of the learning curriculum for future Year 7 students.
