Year 11 to 12 Camp

1

In our first week of term 4, our grade went on camp to Stanwell Tops. This camp is designed to introduce us to Year 12 and provide us with the tools we need to succeed in Year 12 and beyond our schooling years. It was such an incredible experience to be able to enjoy each other’s company without the usual stress and anxieties found within the HSC year. It was an enjoyable way to enter Year 12 and it taught us that we can all have a growth mindset. In taking every smile and fall as an opportunity to grow, we will continue to learn and succeed. We were motivated to not only create goals but to always exceed our own expectations and push ourselves further than we thought we could.

Our Year Advisors gave us the mission to step beyond our comfort zones. We were encouraged to explore the unknown and our fears, as opposed to experiencing familiar, easily achievable tasks. We were all pushed to our limits when it came to activities such as the giant swings, high ropes, go-karting, disco dancing and archery and I believe we developed a certain strength and confidence that we didn't even know we had as we undertook these challenges. We have come away from camp absolutely exhausted but in maintaining this optimistic, positive and tenacious attitude, we believe we are far better equipped to take on our final year of school.

Many of us were divided into groups where we had no one from our usual friend groups; however, we came together as a united and supportive collective to cheer on all of our teammates. The atmosphere was electric with words of encouragement and advice from our peers to step outside our comfort zones and attempt different activities. Everyone was so passionate about ensuring all people had an amazing time and working in conjunction, we have all developed life-long memories. Feeling the belief and faith others have in you is so empowering and with a crowd of support from your peers, you genuinely feel like you can do anything you put your mind to. The cheers and applause gave every person a sense of pride and belonging and it is an experience we will all remain grateful for, for a very, very long time.

Thank you to all our incredible teachers who gave up their time to foster such a nurturing, fulfilling and memorable camp experience for us. Thank you to our wonderful Year Advisors Mrs Mac and Miss Fellas- without your constant support, encouragement, enthusiasm and passion, none of this would be possible, so we thank you for everything you do for us.
