Principal's Message

Dear Kirrawee High School community,
It is my pleasure to welcome you all to the first newsletter of the 2023 school year. I hope that this message finds you all in good health and spirits.
2022 school year was a remarkable one for our school community. Our students and staff worked tirelessly throughout the year, achieving many impressive accomplishments.
As we begin the 2023 school year, I am pleased to share with you some of the impressive accomplishments that our students and staff have already achieved.
Our Year 7 students have settled into high school life seamlessly, demonstrating excellent behaviour, engagement, and participation in their classes.
Our Year 12 students are almost halfway through their courses and currently participating in their first assessment period for the year.
Our sporting teams have also had a strong start to the year, with our school being named Sutherland Zone Champions again in 2023. Congratulations to the following students who were Sutherland Zone Age Champions.
· 12 Girls - Aliyah Chalmers
· 15 Boys - Tristan Grueninger
· 16 Girls - Mikayla Dobosz
· 17 Girls - Lily Taylor
On Monday this week I had the pleasure of watching our Senior Girls Water Polo team defeat both Cronulla and Woolooware High Schools to take out the Regional Championships. The girls were amazing to watch in the pool and I wish them all the best as they head to Raymond Terrace to play in the State Championships.
Preparations for our bi-annual Musical the Adams Family are well underway with Tech week and show week fast approaching in weeks 8 and 9 this term. Tickets are on sale now so please get in early, so you don’t miss out.
Last night out P&C held their AGM, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing committee for their service to our school. A special mention to outgoing President Mr Simon Locke and Secretary Ms Fiona Blom who have completed their 2-year terms on the executive. I am excited to welcome our new P&C executive:
· Bibiana Beaupark – President,
· Sarah Bianchi and Caryn Schwartz – Vice Presidents
· Suzanne Pick – Treasurer
The P&C are still in need of a secretary for 2023. If there is anyone out there who may be interested in this position, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
A big thankyou to Mrs April McEntyre our relieving HT English who spoke to the P&C last night about all things English. The parents who attended found April’s session useful and informative. She will be emailing parents about how you can support your students with English, at home. At our next P&C meeting we will be hearing from Mr Simpson and Mrs Potter about our Languages International Visits.
Looking ahead, I am excited to see what our school community will achieve throughout the rest of the year. Our students and staff continue to uphold our signature strengths and I am proud to lead such a dedicated and passionate group.
Thank you for your ongoing support of Kirrawee High School, and I look forward to sharing more updates with you throughout the year.
Yours sincerely,
Christine Campbell
