We would like to acknowledge our four students who received major awards for School Service and Leadership.

The Federal Parliamentarian Distinguished Achievement Award is presented to a student who displays an exceptional level of achievement in leadership and citizenship.
In 2023 Olivia has demonstrated outstanding leadership within the school and beyond. She has been an active member of the Student Representative Council and conducted School Tours for prospective enrolments. She volunteered as a timekeeper at the Sutherland Zone Swimming Carnival and has represented the school in Water Polo, Debating, Public Speaking and at the Science and Engineering Challenge that made the State Finals. She has been an active member of many KHS CAPA programs including a Lead role in The Addams Family Production.
Outside of school Olivia serves a member of the DOVES (Department of Student Voices in Education and Schools). In this role she brings the views and feedback of young people directly to decision-makers as the peak student forum for the Minister for Education and Early Learning and the Department of Education Secretary and senior officers. As a member of this prestigious team, Olivia was invited to speak and present on a student panel with the Education Minister focusing on the Education Plan for Public Education.
A most worthy recipient of this award, Olivia displays many attributes of an effective leader including strong communication skills, adaptability and resilience.

The ADF, Australian Defence Force Long Tan Award recognises a student who demonstrates leadership and teamwork with both the school and the broader local community. At the same time, they recognise those who display strong values, such as doing one's best, respect for others and "mateship", charactersitcs that are integral to Australian society.
Norah has taken on many KHS leadership and school service roles demonstrating her ability to work effectively in a team and striving for personal best. In 2023 she was an active member of the Student Representative Council and the Events and Media Team She conducted school tours and represented the school in Debating and the Open Girls Basketball team. She is also a member of the KHS String Ensemble, was part of the Addams Family Musical and has been selected a Premier Ensemble Leader for 2024.
A most worthy recipent of this prestigious award.

The Brianna Johnsen Memorial Award recognises a student from years 7-10 who has demonstrated four key attributes; motivation, grit, humanity and resilience. The award winner has shown enormous resolve, an ability to inspire others and a capacity to live every day as if it counts above all others. The recipient has made an indelible mark on the Kirrawee family and is recognised for their ongoing commitment to improve the future for themselves and their peers.
Lola, the deserving recipient of The Brianna Johnsen Memorial Award, embodies the essence of the accolade through her unwavering commitment to excellence. As a member of the Student Representative Council, Lola has actively contributed to the school community, conducting numerous school tours and representing the school in debating, 6 Music Ensembles and in the KHS Athletics team.
Her impact on the Kirrawee family is indelible, and she is truly deserving of this prestigious award, as she continues to shape a brighter future for both herself and her peers.

The Toni Weatherall Communication, Ethics and Civics Award recognises a student from Years 9 or 10 who has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to the notion of building community.
William Pearce, the deserving recipient of The Toni Weatherall Communication, Ethics, and Civics Award, embodies the essence of community-building and advocacy. As an active member of the Student Representative Council, he has consistently demonstrated his commitment to fostering a sense of belonging within the school community. William's role in conducting school tours for prospective enrolments showcases his dedication to welcoming new members into the school. Furthermore, his participation and presentation in debating reflects not only a sharp mind but also a capacity to communicate effectively, assisting others in finding their voices. Beyond academics, William's musical talents shine through his membership in five KHS ensembles as well as the Regional Symphonic Winds ensemble. His selection as a 2024 Premiers Ensemble Leader underscores his leadership qualities and commitment to the broader community, making him a truly commendable recipient of this prestigious award.
