This term, the Social Justice Team (SJT) ran one of our biggest and most impactful events – the World’s Greatest Shave. We are thrilled to share that Kirrawee High raised an incredible $21,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation. This money will go directly towards funding vital blood cancer research, providing support for patients and their families, and working towards more effective treatments. The event was a huge success – the library was packed with enthusiastic students cheering on our brave shavers and showing support for this amazing cause. We also beat our friendly rivals Woolooware High, who raised $14,350! A huge thank you to everyone who participated, donated, or supported the event in any way – your kindness and energy made the day so special.
Next term, the SJT will be leading one of the most meaningful events on our calendar – Brianna Day. This special day honours the memory of Brianna Johnsen, a former Kirrawee student who showed incredible strength and resilience during her fight with leukaemia. Celebrated at our school for almost ten years, Brianna Day raises much-needed funds for the Starlight Foundation and keeps Brianna’s vibrant spirit alive in our community. As always, we will be holding a purple mufti day to reflect her favourite colour and the colour of the Starlight Foundation. An exciting new activity for the day will be announced soon – stay tuned!
