U Turn the Wheel -Road Safety Day 2023

Description:  Life Ready is a mandatory personal development and health education course for Year 11 students in NSW government schools.

In order to satisfy the NSW Department of Education’s mandatory Life Ready Program, which addresses personal and social issues for young people, a number of seminars are being organised for Year 11 students.
Year 11 students will be participating in a compulsory Road Safety program at school run by Gymea Rotary Club called “U Turn the Wheel.”

Through a series of demonstrations in a seminar and participating situations, students are shown the impacts of bad driving habits and poor road skills through eyes of experienced speakers from the Police and Ambulance services, NRMA and St George Youth Services. They will learn about:-

  1. Risk taking behaviour
  2. Speeding
  3. Legal Consequences of bad driving
  4. Traffic Hints &Tips
  5. Drugs & Alcohol and driving
  6. Driver distractions

It is important for students to understand that attendance at all Life Ready workshops is compulsory. The school is required to indicate that they have met the requirements of Life Ready.
Any student who does not meet the requirements in Year 11 will have to complete them in Term 4 2023 before commencing Year 12.

If your child is unable to attend any of these workshops, please inform Mrs. Anderson in the PE staffroom and alternate online work will be provided.   Thank you for your support of this program.

Venue:  Kirrawee High School

Dress Code:  Full school uniform.

Food:  Canteen facilities will be available at school or students can bring their own.

Students are to Bring: A pen or pencil and a notebook.

Educational Outcomes:   This is part of the mandatory Life Ready course.
