PDHPE Assessment Term 3

Dacne

It has been a busy term for our junior PDHPE classes this term.  Check out below what has been happening in classrooms and assessments.

Year 7 Dance Assessment

One of our many engaging practical assessments for stage 4 students was to create an interpretive dance to a piece of music. This assessment task is always well received with enthusiasm, and it was pleasing to observe the effort and creativity of our year 7 students.

Year 8 Fitness Circuits

Year 8 students have been studying the unit Fitness Freak over the term. The unit was investigating the major components of fitness necessary for a variety of activities and how to measure and improve these components. Students then put their knowledge into practice by working with a partner to create a fitness circuit that develops the components of fitness relevant to a chosen sport.

Year 9 Social Media Campaign on Body Image

Year 9 students have been studying Body Image and Nutrition in Term 3. They have been investigating the various influences on where they form their ideas about what positive and negative body image looks like and investigating various ways to improve self esteem and promote body positivity.

The assessment task for this unit was to develop their writing skills and their ability to present their opinion by writing a justification. Students also, in groups, created a social media campaign using Canva that promotes body positivity.

Year 10 Websites

Year 10 have had a very busy term investigating risk taking behaviours and risk management strategies in relation to Road Safety, Relationships and Drug use in the Who’s Got Your Back unit.

They have been presented with various scenarios throughout the unit and implemented their decision-making skills to select the best positive outcome for the situation. The assessment for this unit was to create a website using the free online tool Wix. The purpose of the website was to provide a place for young people to access information related to one of the 3 topics studied in the term (Road Safety, Relationships and Drug Use) and where they could access harm minimisation strategies and sources of further information and support.

Year 9 PASS – Fundamental Movement Skills – Skills Session

Our elective Year 9 Physical Activity and Sport Studies (PASS) students have been investigating how people acquire skills in the Fundamental Movement Skills unit. Students were assessed on their creation of a skills session where they had to create a variety of activities that reflected learning in an Open and Closed environment. They also needed to implement concurrent and delayed forms of feedback in their skills session to ascertain which learning environment and type of feedback are best suited to improve skill acquisition.
