As the final days of their Year 12 journey at KHS come to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude and thanks to the outgoing Year 12 Leadership team. The 2023 Year 12 Leaders led their peers and our school community with diligence, poise, innovation and compassion, revitalising student leadership at Kirrawee High School and leaving a lasting legacy for years to come.
The Year 12 Leadership team of 2023 pioneered the Student Forum Website, Clubs and Activities led by students and run every Recess and Lunch and brought structure, organisation and visionary planning to the SRC team. For the first time, each of our Prefects were tasked with the responsibility of leading one of the three branches of our SRC – the Wellbeing, Social Justice and Environment teams. In this role they brought great dedication and commitment to the planning and running of initiatives aimed at improving the wellbeing, learning and experiences of our students and the wider community. Their expert leadership of their peers in the SRC has ensured the strength of our student leadership for years to come and has served as an exemplar of collaborative planning and expert problem solving.
While their presence will be sorely missed, we know that the invaluable skills our Year 12 Leaders have learnt at KHS will serve them well as they lead their own community into a life beyond school.
As Pericles once said, “what you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others”.
