Creative And Performing Arts (CAPA)

At Kirrawee High School, our Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) programs foster imagination, curiosity and self-expression. Through a rich and diverse curriculum, students engage with the artistic disciplines of Visual Arts, Music, Dance, Drama, Photography, and Visual Design, building both technical skills and creative confidence.

All students in Years 7 and 8 complete 100 hours each of Music and Visual Arts, where they explore core concepts such as composition, performance, art-making, and appreciation. These foundational experiences spark a deeper understanding of artistic practice and encourage creative risk-taking.

From Year 9 onwards, students can tailor their creative pathway through a range of elective courses, including Drama, Dance, Music, Visual Arts, Photography and Digital Media, and Visual Design. These electives provide opportunities for students to refine their craft, collaborate with others, and develop personal voice and style.

In Years 11 and 12, students can pursue  ATAR and non-ATAR courses  in Music, Visual Arts, Drama, Dance, VET Entertainment and Photography. These senior courses are designed to extend students’ critical thinking, conceptual development, and technical expertise—while offering pathways to tertiary education, creative industries, and lifelong artistic practice.

Our CAPA faculty includes passionate, highly skilled educators who are practising artists and performers. With access to specialist facilities, including music studios, visual arts rooms, a drama theatre, and dance spaces, students are encouraged to experiment, reflect, and create with purpose.

At Kirrawee High, the arts are not just subjects—they are vital ways for students to connect, express themselves, and contribute meaningfully to their world.
